About Amber Taylor
Amber Taylor is a dynamic presence whose experiences as a transgender person color the lyrical narrative. Artist, Singer-Songwriter and founding member of the Atlanta-based band “The Sexual Side Effects”, Amber has beamed her haunting and majestic brand of music into the the hearts and minds of audiences across the US and UK.
Cutting her teeth in the pits of rock n roll as a modern day Road Warrior, Amber is no stranger to slaying dragons with guitar. Sharing the stage with the likes of Fuel, Royal Bliss, The Georgia Satellites, Jayne County, Girl In A Coma, Electric Six, Hunter Valentine, and many others. At the dawn of 2018, the mission to touch hearts and minds with Taylor’s message continues as a solo artist, while captivating eardrums with a new breathtaking sound.
Taylor released a debut five-song EP as The Sexual Side Effects called High Maintenance, offering it to fans to download on Band Camp (http://thesexualsideeffects.bandcamp.com). Co-produced by Taylor and ongoing collaborator John Briglevich (Drivin’ n’ Cryin’, Edwin McCain), the EP is a lush, beautifully rendered introduction, marked by the soaring, Middle Eastern-tinged “Aurora,” the shimmering “All She’ll Ever Hurt” and the humorously cheeky “I’m In Love With A Girl (But She Used To Be A Man).” As a solo singer-songwiter, Amber’s musical metamorphosis opens to new realms. Sitting in the room between the dream soaked psych-pop and post-punk of SSE, the energy of rock n roll breathes new life next to earthier shimmers of Americana.
Now, when not on the road playing an increasing list of live dates with Angrygal Records artist Sara Rachele and others, Amber is busy preparing a new release. According to Taylor, listeners should expect more of the passionate lyricism and eclectic soundscapes that made “High Maintenance” so unforgettable.
